OpenSIF.org : The Open Schools Interoperability Framework
What is OpenSIF?
OpenSIF was started as a way to further the adoption of the Schools Interoperability Framework standard, commonly known as SIF.
Unfortunately, it can be extremely costly for a school to implement SIF. The main goal of OpenSIF is looking to completely eliminate the cost of using SIF to a school by providing free, open source clients that can export a school's current database into the SIF format.
Why Use SIF?
SIF can greatly increase the interoperability of school data between programs, schools, districts, and countries. As an emerging standard of electronic school data, SIF will make sure that as schools become more electronic and connected, their data will be able to move with them - quickly and effortlessly.
Systems between schools and districts will be able to exchange and share student data, fees, and more - all with a single click of the button.
How does OpenSIF work?
Most schools already have a way of storing and organizing their data. OpenSIF looks to provide these schools with simple, free clients that connect to a school's current database solution and export it into the SIF format.
